When a mother and her birth companion are able to approach their birth without fear and with knowledge, good support, and tools for the birth \u2013 then their birthing can be a\u00a0<strong>positive<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>empowering<\/strong>\u00a0experience.\u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u2018hypno\u2019 part of \u2018Hypnobirthing\u2019 refers to the hypnotherapy that we use during the program to release fears and condition ourselves to release endorphins at times during our birth. With the help of hypnotherapy, the birth\u00a0<strong>of your baby can be a more calm and relaxed experience.\u00a0<\/strong>One where you are in the drivers seat, rather than feeling like a passenger. This\u00a0is likely to reduce the need for interventions during your birthing.<\/p>\n<p>The concept of Hypnobirthing is not new, but rather a combination of different techniques and philosophies that have existed for many, many years. Ancient wisdom is combined with modern theory \u2013 giving you the advantage in your acquisition of knowledge as you prepare for your birth.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, natural birth is not a new concept! Our ancient mothers and sisters birthed naturally without the use of anaesthesia or many of the interventions that are common today.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, an English obstetrician was one of the first \u2018modern\u2019 doctors to forward the concept of natural birthing in the 1920\u2032s. Since then there have been many influential advocates for natural birth,\u00a0such as the French obstetrician Michel Odent and leading midwife\/author Ina May Gaskin. Popular courses have also been developed to prepare mothers for birth. Some examples are: The Lamaze Method, The Bradley Method, Hypnobirthing \u2013 the Leclaire Method, HypnoBirthing \u2013 The Mongan Method, GentleBirth, Calmbirth, Hypnobabies and the list goes on.
