Unexpected Home Hypnobirth
Hi Gabriella,
I recently had my 2nd baby and just wanted to thank you again for everything you taught us about hypnobirthing. I could not wait to have another baby and experience labour again after my first baby.
We ended up having an unexpected home birth. I thought I would share my birth story –
I was having surges on and off for a week and a half. Then Saturday morning about midnight I started getting regular surges about 5 min apart but wasn’t sure if they would continue so stayed in bed and each surge I would kneel beside the bed leaning on the bed swaying and breathing through each surge. I also had some calm and relaxing music on the whole time. I also used a tens machine on my back. (Didn’t use it first labour, it was great). I left my partner to sleep. After an hour I realised this was it and my baby would arrive soon so woke my partner and called the midwife (my regular midwife was off work, on the phone I had 2 surges within 7 min and the midwife said I sounded too calm and relaxed so to try and get some rest and don’t come into the hospital yet!). I continued what I was doing for another hour or so but knew my body and baby was very ready. I called the midwife again and she said to come in.
As we were about to get into the car I knew I couldn’t get in. I said to my partner the head is coming and one deep breath the head was out. My mum and partner then tried to get me inside but once I reached the front door I bent over leaning on the step and another breath and the baby was out. My partner was right behind me and caught our daughter.
The ambulance arrived 15min later, allowed the cord to stop pulsating before cutting the cord and I was allowed to wait till in hospital to deliver the placenta naturally.
It was truly amazing and I loved every moment. My 2 year old son met her daughter just minutes after she was born.
I had a slight tear but did not require stitches.
Our girl – Ellira Jade. Born 15/8/15, 3.28am, 8pound 13oz (3.97kg)
Here are some photos – Ellira, photo just after her arrival and siblings – Carter and Ellira.
My mum (who has had 4 babies) said it was very surreal and I was very calm and barely made a sound. She didn’t know I was in labour until my partner woke her up to say we were going to the hospital. She was on the phone to the ambulance once bubs head was out.
Once again thank you for everything you taught us. I tell everyone about hypnobirthing and recommend it and yourself to anyone in Brisbane.
